Active Directory Server

Windows Active Directory is used to administer application settings, corporate identities, business information and system credentials within an organization. Adding to that, it executes all these tasks by taking help of few technologies that have been explained below:
Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
The Active Directory Domain Service is the most essential location of the directory where information that talks regarding security configuration settings, authentication requests and every AD object within the domain or forest is stored. In fact, it facilitates AD administrators to perform different act like controlling and managing the entire directory along with its objects, resources and services like users, computers, applications, groups, printer from one centralized location.
Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS)
The Active Directory Lightweight Directory Service also known as the active director application mode (ADAM). It is mainly used for storing directory compliant applications in the database. Moreover, the AD LDS consists of two key components, to offer location for security accounts and application configuration and directory data. AD LDS service is deployed primarily to the servers which further provide support to directory applications.
Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS)
When it comes to provide protection to intellectual property of an organization from potential infringement and the Active Directory Rights Management Service is mostly used to meet this goal. The AD RM component of Windows Server 2008 R2 is used to encrypt and make safe sensitive documents and web services. This Active Directory server service make sure that objects which have the right to access a resource in the domain network can only do so. Configured rights such as to unlock, print, alter, forward or take any other action is described in the rights-managed information of the AD RMS.
Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
The Active Directory Federation Services is an extremely extensible, safe and internet-scalable service providing identity access answer. This service, allow organizations to authenticate users from their partner organizations and facilitate external users access rights of domain resources of your organization. The AD FS technology is nowadays used for integrating the domain resources and un-trusted resources present within an organization.
Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS)
The Active Directory Certificate Services is used for enhancing the security of certificates that show the user's identity and computers within an organization. This service is used in organization for data encryption all through the transmission across unsecured networks. The key aspect about AD CS is it enhances the security of certificates by binding the identity of an object, device or service to their respective private key. In addition to the private key it also stores the certificate within the AD and therefore protects the identity. Furthermore, it makes it lot easier to recover suitable data upon placing application request.
